The Kwahu Afram Plains South District Health Directorate on 31st August, 2022 held a Media Launch to mark the official commencement of the End Polio Now Vaccination Campaign.
The event took place at the Agyatta CHPS. Present at the ceremony were Mohammed Mumuni, District Coordinating Director for Kwahu Afram Plains South District Assembly, Mr. Richard Essien, the District Director of Health., Hon Johnson Anglisinya, the Assembly member, representatives from various agencies as well as traditional leaders.
The District Health Director explained the logic behind the campaign, stating that it is to protect children under 5 years from Type 2 Polio. He shed light on how the virus is spread and the life changing and threatening effects it can have on children. The Director further encouraged all present to play an active role in educating parents and care givers on the importance of having children go through all the necessary children welfare programs especially weighing and the various vaccinations.
To close the program, the Chairman and special guests were invited to demonstrate how children in the District will receive their vaccination.
