The inauguration of the newly elected assembly members for the Kwahu Afram Plains South District was held on the 12th of February,2024 in Tease. The ceremony which was held at the Assembly Hall of the District Assembly was graced by the Honourable Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Stephen Pambiin Jalulah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Pru West Constituency. Also at the occasion were the Honourable Evans Ntiri Kyei(DCE for Kwahu Afram Plains South District); former DCEs for the Kwahu Afram Plains South District;the District Police Commander; representatives of the Judiciary; heads and representatives of governmental agencies; traditional leaders; clergy; heads of departments of the District Assembly and the general public.

In his address on behalf of the President, the Honourable Minister stressed on Government’s commitment to the decentralisation process and entreated the newly elected assembly members to build good working relationships with their colleagues, the DCE and other relevant groups in the district to push forward the development of the district. He admonished them to work hard in coming up with innovative ways to increase internally generated funds(IGF). Finally, Honourable Jalulah advised the Assembly to localise national development strategies and be selfless in their devotion to their duties.

The new Assembly was led by Judge Samuel Essel to take their oaths and sworn into office.

Honourable John Lartey was sworn in as the new Presiding Member for the Assembly after being elected in a contest with Honourable John Tsatsu. After either candidate failed to obtain the required 29 votes in the first voting, Honourable John Tsatsu withdrew from the contest which led to Honourable John Lartey obtaining 34 votes in a Yes/No confirmation vote to be elected the new Presiding Member. In his acceptance speech , he thanked his colleagues for the confidence and pledged to work with his colleagues to ensure the development of the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.

Membership of the Development Planning, Agric & Bushfire, Social Services, Finance & Administration, Justice & Security, and Works sub-committees were constituted and Chairpersons for the various sub-committees selected.
